Goulbourn Museum takes pride in preserving and sharing local history in a meaningful and accessible way that strengthens community connections.
The Museum opened in 1990 but the building itself was constructed over a century earlier, in 1872. It served as the Town Hall and hosted socials, community dances and meetings. In later years the building was used for local recreation programs.
Today the Museum, a registered charity, cares for over 10,000 artefacts as well as a collection of 40,000 objects unearthed during a 2012 archaeological dig. In order to showcase them all, the Museum offers virtual tours of its collections online.
The Museum also hosts programs for all ages and free family events like its popular Old-Fashioned Christmas and Outdoor Artisan Market in November.
Goulbourn Museum is open Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during the week by appointment. Local research requests can be made by emailing info@goulbournmuseum.ca
